WAS Artist of the Week…

Pam Glew: Painter, Brighton, UK

Pam Glew is a contemporary British artist who uses unique bleaching techniques with vintage fabrics and flags to create her strong cinematic paintings.

Heavily influenced by film, her current series focuses on screen stills of women in film noir and horror movies, playing with our notion of paranoia, attraction and the American dream. She is one of the few female urban artists to emerge in recent times and has a future group exhibition in the Carmichael Gallery, LA in August 2009.
