Sally Bennett Baxley: Painter, Connecticut
Baxley’s paintings create abstract botanical images. The simple blooms are combined with various pattern, texture, light and color. Her colors are generally bold, expressive and alive. She is influenced by the decorative aspects of many artistic cultures and is drawn to serenity and balance in nature and in art, her paintings are an escape from chaos, darkness, ugliness, and disjunctive forces in the world.
Baxley was originally trained as a painter at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Lacoste School of Arts in Lacoste, France. She spent many years honing her sense of color and balance in the field of Interior Design. It has been noted that Baxley’s work follows in the tradition of abstract expressionists like Wassily Kandinsky.
