The Pantone Hotel, all the reason I need to put Brussels on my travel list for the year! Its a color-swatched universe of all things Pantone. In their own words:  “From a design perspective, The PANTONE HOTELTM, Brussels is built on an exceptional use of contrast; a white canvas provides clean space for saturated colors to pop. Guest rooms feature unique photography by esteemed Belgian photographer Victor Levy. Welcome to the center of the color universe”

It is no surprise that all of us here at theStudio would enjoy this piece of architecture. We rely on the Pantone color wheel for all our projects. So we find great interest in the Pantone Hotel, in Brussels. The Hotel is a color-swatched universe of all things Pantone.

KC Collins, Painter, Charleston, SC

What I love about KC’s work is that she has a very atmospheric approach to painting. Her paintings appear to be abstract and yet are very true to life. Her ethereal landscapes and portraits have won her several awards, most recently, she was awarded the 2010 Mayor’s Choice Award at Piccolo Spoleto and third place at the Festival of Masters in Orlando, FL.

After studying art history she was inspired by the work of JWM Turner, Franz Klein, and Gerhard Richter. Her contemporary influences included abstract landscape artists Anne Stahl and Elin Neuman.

For more on KC’s work visit her on the web.

Nate Ronniger, Painter, Arizona

As a company that works closely with furniture design, it is no surprise that we had an instant interest in this weeks featured artist: Nate Ronniger. We were drawn to the simple, well designed objects that are explored in Ronniger’s Designer Chair series. He has taken minature, designer chair replicas and created intriguing subjects in his paintings.

In the past Ronniger has exhibited his work at Bonner David Galleries in Scottsdale. You can view more of Nate’s paintings via the web.

From Japanese designer Shin Azumi for Lapalma comes the AP Stool.

Shin Azumi’s work has received numerous design awards in Europe and in Japan, amongst which the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize in 2004, the Blueprint 100% Design Award in 2003 and “Product of the Year, 2000” FX International Design Award
