Google just unveiled their new ground breaking GoogleArtProject. It basically brings street view into 17 of the worlds most prestigious museums, digitally archiving 400 rooms and 385 artists. Take your own 360-degree virtual tour of museum interiors like the MoMA in New York, The National Gallery in London and The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and each museum features one work of art in super high-resolution by using gigapixel photo-capturing technology.
Amit Sood, Google Art Project’s lead, stresses that his team wants to “help museums make their art more accessible — not just to regular museum-goers or those fortunate to have great galleries on their doorsteps, but a whole new set of people who might otherwise never get to see the real thing up close.”
Have fun exploring the world’s masterpieces!
