Rebecca Rebouché, Painter, Franklin, LA
Rebecca Rebouché is a native Louisianan living and working in New Orleans. What we love about Rebecca’s work is that she creates nostalgic, warm and whimsical art out of paint, mixed media and stitched soft sculpture; a practice best described as contemporary folk art. Several of her painting explore human relationships through the use of metaphor.
Artist statement: I go about my days with a watchful eye, and when I notice something, I take a mental photograph of it. Later I explore how these objects can be metaphors for some greater human feeling of tension, harmony, loneliness, or embrace.
