Pantone Color 2014

Style, Substance and Color: Major Trends and Directions

In this complex and information-laden world, there is a multiplicity of resources that inform color and design directions. More than ever before it is urgent to be aware of future trends as consumers are seeking distinctive styling and considerable substance. Most importantly, colors and combinations must be appealing, evocative, transformative and “on-target”. The following themes explain the major trends and the sources of inspiration.

Welcome to Day 5: Collage

Collage is a gathering place for found objects that create a sense of nostalgia – a charming mélange of artfully constructed designs that demonstrate ingenuity and resourcefulness. This is most typically represented in a still life or compilation of images to make a collage. There is poignancy in this palette with color and design sounding a familiar chord. Tea Rose and deep reddish Rhubarb, warm Pumpkin Spice and cozy Sheepskin are refreshed with Margarita green, Provincial Blue, plus cascading tones of aqua and teal.
